Designs and barcode content
What can I create?
Product labels, price tags, QR links, equipment tags, contact badges and other layouts combining text, codes and images. Ready-made starters provide examples, and the editor lets you customize the result.
Which barcode types can I create?
Code 128, QR Code, EAN-13, GS1-128 and DataMatrix have the current full creation workflow. Some other types in older documents can be preserved with editing limitations. Use the type required by your customer or process and supported by the intended reader.
Does choosing EAN-13 give me a valid product number?
No. The app creates a symbol from the value you provide; it does not allocate official product identifiers or certify your GS1 implementation. Follow the appropriate numbering requirements and the app’s validation messages.
Can a QR label open a website?
Yes. Enter the complete destination address and add readable information beside the QR code. The creator also offers plain text, email and phone content. The app is not a hosted dynamic-QR or scan-analytics service; changing the design does not change a code already printed.
Do I need Advanced for ordinary layout changes?
No. The Simple editor supports everyday work with text, images, codes and position and size controls. Advanced provides expressions and more detailed properties. Some Advanced settings are preserved but read-only when you return to Simple.
Saving and data
Where do my editable labels go?
Save keeps the project in My Labels. Find it again using its thumbnail or search. Export PDF creates a separate output file rather than replacing the editable design.
How do I keep an original and make another version?
Use Save a copy in the editor to save the current design under another name, or Duplicate in My Labels. Save a copy leaves the original open, so open the new copy from My Labels when you want to continue editing that version.
Can I use Excel or CSV data?
Yes. Choose the source and worksheet, review the headers and columns, then connect columns to the text and codes on the label. Keep identifiers with leading zeros as text. The preview and mapping steps help you check the chosen data.
Is a connected file the same as a copy in My Data?
No. A connected file is read from its original path and must remain available. My Data keeps an independent saved copy. Changes to the original imported file do not automatically update that stored copy.
Can each product have a different number of labels?
Yes. In Records & quantities, set the amount for each chosen record or apply a quantity column. These settings affect the current print job, not the source spreadsheet. Searching hides rows but does not automatically deselect them; check the summary before applying the job.
Can I enter one batch code for the whole job?
Yes. Add a print-time value to the design, then enter or review it before preparing the job. Leave the option to use the values as future defaults unchecked when they should apply only to that job. Use a spreadsheet column when each record needs a different value.
Printing and export
Can I use a partly used label sheet?
Choose the first free position to skip earlier positions and continue from there. Individual holes cannot be selected separately. Check every position the job uses and only reuse a sheet when your printer and stock instructions allow it.
Why does the preview show fewer pages than the job total?
The interactive preview can show only the first three physical pages. Inspect a record lets you review another data row without changing the selected job. Export PDF contains the complete selected batch, which you can review page by page.
What is the difference between PDF and image export?
PDF contains the prepared physical pages, including the sheet layout and selected quantities. PNG and SVG export individual label images rather than the whole sheet arrangement. PNG supports 300 or 600 DPI, and a set of images can be saved as a ZIP.
Which printers can I use?
Printing goes through compatible Windows printer drivers. The driver must support the media size and setup you need. The app does not generate raw ZPL, EPL or TSPL printer commands, and compatibility with every printer and stock is not guaranteed. Test a sample with the intended printer, media and barcode reader.
Why is the print shifted or scaled?
Check paper size, label dimensions, margins, gaps and driver settings first. Use printer offsets for a small position correction. When printing a PDF, choose Actual size or 100%; Fit to page can change label and barcode dimensions. The app’s preview zoom does not set the print scale.
Buying and privacy
What does the app cost? Is there a trial?
The current price, purchase terms and any trial offer are shown in Microsoft Store. Check the listing for your region before purchasing.
Where is my data stored?
Projects and saved data use local storage on your PC. Connected files need to remain available at their original paths. Technical diagnostics can be controlled in Settings. See the app privacy policy for details.
Which language and platform does the app use?
Label & Barcode Studio is a Windows desktop application with an English-language interface. Number and date formatting can follow regional settings. Check the Microsoft Store listing for the system and device requirements of the current release.
Where can I get help?
Open Help in the app, watch a video tutorial or contact DefinedBytes support. Include the app version, Windows version, the steps that led to the problem and, when possible, a small fictional example rather than private customer data.
