QUICK GANTT CHART: A PROJECT SCHEDULE WITH RESOURCE COSTS
Fictional worked example. Checked in Microsoft Store version 1.0.97.0 on 15 October 2026.

FILES
- Website launch - resource costs.gnt: original 18-task schedule with resources and automatic budgets.
- Website launch - baseline comparison.gnt: the same project with an Approved plan baseline and Content strategy finishing one working day later.
- Website launch - resource costs.pdf: an actual export of the original schedule from Quick Gantt Chart. Landscape A4, one page in this example.

OPEN THE EXAMPLE
Extract the ZIP first. In Quick Gantt Chart, choose File > Open and select the resource costs .gnt file. Work on a copy if you want to keep the original. The PDF is for viewing; changes to a .gnt file do not update it.

CHECK THE CALENDAR AND SETTINGS
The project uses Monday-Friday, 08:00-16:00, no holidays. Auto Budget Calculation, automatic budget summing and the Budget column are enabled in the project settings. Durations and hourly costs depend on these working-time rules.

CHECK RESOURCES
Open Resources. Project lead is 95 per hour; Designer 80; Developer 90; QA specialist 65. Stock assets are 40 per item. Launch services use Cost, a fixed 250. These are fictional teaching values in consistent cost units, not salary estimates, quotes or software prices.

FOLLOW THE 2530 CALCULATION
Visual design runs from 14 October 08:00 to 16 October 16:00, giving 24 working hours. It assigns Designer at 100%, Project lead at 25%, and Stock assets.
Designer: 24 h x 80 = 1920.
Project lead: 6 h x 95 = 570.
Stock assets: 1 x 40 = 40.
Total planned cost: 2530. The initial project total is 20400.
Select the Budget cell and open its dropdown to inspect these rows. Rates come from Resources. Amount controls hours, item quantity or a fixed amount for that task. Cost is not a rate editor. Cancel closes without changing the example.
Actual Cost is separate; this example does not record actual expenses. Do not interpret it as accounting data or automatically recorded spend.

COMPARE ONE CHANGE
Open the baseline comparison .gnt file separately. Baseline is set to Approved plan. Content strategy now ends 9 October 16:00; its saved baseline ends 8 October 16:00. Start stays 6 October 08:00. It has no dependency successors in this example.
Its Designer time increases from 24 h to 32 h at 80 per hour, so cost increases 1920 -> 2560, a difference of 640. Project total changes 20400 -> 21040. The app computes the current budget when the file opens.
The gray baseline is a reference for dates. It does not keep a historical cost ledger and selecting it does not restore the original project.
To practice baseline creation in a copy, use the plus button beside Baseline, enter a name, and then select that baseline for display. Use calendar controls when editing dates and review the resulting schedule. The supplied completed comparison lets you inspect the result without changing the original.

EXPORT YOUR OWN PDF
Choose Quick Export > Export To PDF. Use Tree And Gantt Chart and As displayed. Under more options choose Landscape and Fit To One Page. Clear Default for the date range and choose 4 October 2026 00:00 through 8 November 2026 00:00 using the calendar controls. Review the zoom and the PDF after saving.
Fit To One Page fits one page WIDE; a longer task list may continue vertically. This included native export is A4.
